Help! - What should I do next?

Hi all,

I had a lady and her 7 year old (8 in dec 10) daughter visit yesterday for a school pick up and drop off starting in September. The visit went really well and today she has text me to say that she'd like me to childmind her daughter. GREAT!!!

So I have got this far - just about - but what next?

What should I do next? Obviously I'd like to sign contract and get a deposit down to secure the place but what you all usually do?

I invite them back for a another visit and go through all the documentation, sign up the contract and take the deposit and make it very clear that the deposit is non-refundable if the contract isn't taken up on the terms agreed - write it onto the contract.

Make sure they understand the policies and procedures - fees and payments in particular, behaviour and expectations on both your parts etc - make sure you understand all the hours wanted - ie in the holidays, what you do about bank holidays, what about inset days etc. Give them copies of the documentation.

Get the child to fill in a little questionnaire about what they do and don't like, activities, foods, tv etc.

Then enjoy the job. Congratulations
