    Default Please help I have some questions!

    Hi everyone

    Can you tell me the if my partner works with me do I have to pay his tax and national insurance? His sole job will be as my assistant.

    Can you still get tax credits as a couple?

    Do you know how many sqaure metres is needed to up numbers to 6 under 5? or what the meterage needed is per child?

    Many thanks

    1. If you employ your partner as an assistant then you will be responsible for his tax and NI. If he registers as self employed and you run your business as a partnership he will be responsible for his own - just as you are.

    2. Tax credits can be claimed as a couple and the amount you receive depends on the household income. There is information on HMRC website about thresholds and entitlements.

    3. Providers must meet the following space requirements:
    children under two years: 3.5 m2 per child;
    two year olds: 2.5 m2 per child;
    children aged three to five years: 2.3 m2 per child.
    This is taken from the variation request form which I completed just before christmas.

    Hope that helps
