Default When a child leaves ...

I have a child who is leaving me shortly and I've just done a transition summary to end his Learning Journey with me. Should I keep anything from his Learning Journey on file? Two Year Checks, Summary Assessments etc. or does it all just go with him?

I keep 2-yr check as it is a statutory document and I want to be able to show I did do it if ever questioned in future.

I now ask the next setting (nursery/playgroup) if they want access to LJ/2yr check etc and offer to work together for the transition, via a letter from me, signed by parents, which parents hand to new setting's manager.

I have got absolutely no reply from last two, so I am not even wasting my time doing a final assessment now, doubt they would even look at it. They make their own starting points and have their own LJ systems anyway.

I have had a good hand-over to a playgroup in the past, they even came to me for a visit to see the child in my setting and they did look at my LJ.

I give LJ to parent when child leaves so they can share with next setting if they want.

If your records are kept online I would ask the parents for consent to keep them....to show Ofsted maybe at inspection....
Keeping records/photos when children leave was a hot topic recently...the ICO gave clear instruction why we can keep them.

Other settings are sometimes slow in replying to Cms requests to 'share info' especially when out r children attend 2 settings.
If you are getting nowhere please discuss this with your EY team....it is in their interest that we share info....always has been and they can put things in motion to start the process.
