    Default Friday 13th Inspection

Not been on here for ages (Sorry)

Well OFSTED have been and gone (2 hours).
Ended up with an Inspection - No Children Present, so no grading. But I met all requirements. She said I would have got an Outstanding if I had had children here.

Did they just turn up unannounced or did you know they were coming...just curious as you didn't have any children present.

I live on the edge of my seat on my days off - I would be so cross if that happened to me

Pixie dust it's the new rules- they will turn up when they want even if we are not working and grade us as 'met' or 'not met' the requirements - so they have done their jobs regardless of allowing us to do our best...

can't say I am convinced - Ofsted | Inspecting registered providers with no children on roll or no children present at the time of the inspection

I hope you are ok Pedagog xx

I've just had a read through of the document, would this mean that you wouldn't be graded until the next inspection cycle? So could be years with no grade? Or do you think they might come back a day you have children present?
I'm expecting my first grading inspection any day, so would be gutted if I have to wait another 4 or 5 years before getting a grade...although I'd have my own son of 2 with me so would they count him? Not that I have a learning journey or anything for him...

Another money saving exercise. So what happens if the childminders offers the free funding and has no children on the day the inspector turns up, does the funding stop until the childminder gets another inspection in 5+ years time to get a grade?
I definitely won't be answering my door if I have a day off, I will hide upstairs and watch day time tv.

Yes that's a good idea, I may stop answering the door if I'm not working! In all seriousness though you're right about funding, my council only let you have 3 year old funding if you're good or outstanding so I wouldn't be able to get that, doesn't seem fair just because you don't work every day

They never consider or look at anything about your own child.

Do you have no children on role at all?
If you have, say, children on Mon and Thurs then you just tell them that when they phone about your inspection and they will come on those days. They don't just turn up without phoning ahead in normal circumstances- they phone a week or so ahead to check what days you work.
