Activities for EYFS Areas of Learning

The holy day of the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick, celebrates Irish culture and history.

A quick and easy activity is to make a Shamrock hat, shamrock is the national emblem of Ireland.

You will need:

  • Thin card strip about 3" wide and long enough to go round each child's head.
  • Stronger card strips approx.. 8" x 1"
  • Shamrock shape about 4" x 4" - copy shape idea below.
  • Crayons
  • Stapler

Cut out and colour the Shamrock shapes and strips in green.

Then simply wrap the card strip around the child's head the get the right size then staple.

Staple the shamrock shapes on the end of the long strips and then fix the strips to each side of the hat. (So they look a bit like an ant's antennae)
