To celebrate Chinese Lantern Festival you can make Chinese Lanterns:

  • Sheet of A3 paper per child
  • Crayons
  • Stapler or glue

Decorate the piece of paper with birds, dragons or fish.

Fold in half long ways and make cuts from fold to about 4 cm from edge of paper, each cut should be approx.. 4 cm apart.

Open out the paper and curve round into a circle, with cuts going top to bottom. Staple or glue the edges together.

Cut a strip of paper to make a handle and attach to top of lantern. Diagrams for example only and are not to scale.
