Money

This is a new aspect included in mathematics. It does not mean children need to be adding and subtracting using coins! It means giving children access to money so they can handle it and start to learn what the numbers mean.

Safety tips - you need to be very careful when using coins in case they get dropped near babies. Keep them in a lidded box and count them in and out with the children every time they are used.

The children might enjoy visiting the local shop and then playing shops using a pretend till, bar code swipe and card machine.

This also encourages turn taking and negotiating skills.
