I have to do my GCSE Maths if I want to go onto my 3rd year at Uni.

Any suggestions of who I could study with please????

As far as I'm aware most counties supply training bursaries

...but you're gonna have to make a phonecall to your DO / EYCS on Monday!

as you need it to do EYPS you might get funded through the GLF or just general training budget with your local authority? I am sure that you could do it online but most adult education colleges should offer it. If you have a short academic year (finish in June) I believe you can do it over 4 months, so you could study for it over the summer before the next academic year begins in late September.

Is it your third year next year?

I HATE HATE HATE maths - did I mention I HATE maths - just the thought of having to do it sends me into panic mode, I am already convinced I will not be able to do it

Apparently our local college has already started their course and we can't get onto it so its going to have to be online.
Good thinking about doing it over the summer hols.
And yes Juggler next year will be my 3rd

Hi Pip, i just started my Maths GCSE in September as was told that if i wanted to progress after foundation degree i needed Maths GCSE grade C. My early years team paid for me to go to college. They use the Adult Education department but i'd already enrolled with Hartlepool college.

Did you have to prove you had the required grades in english and Maths? I want to do my foundation degree but do not have the maths grade...but also do not have the proof I have O'level english...but I do!

How do they prove either way?

Maths was always my fav subject at school, only got a c at gcse should have been an a really, but i love it

somebody somewhere will have proof that you've passed your O level.

it will be recorded by someone... you need to ask at your old school for details of the examining board and contact them.

The usual examining board is -

AQA
Devas Street
Manchester
M15 6EX

www.aqa.org.uk

There are others, which is why it's worth checking with your old school.

Well thats just put pay to any ideas of me going any further than a foundation degree then

I only got a grade 4 CSE in Maths (is there anyone else old enought to remember CSE's?

) and there is no way at my age I'm going to even think about doing GCSE!

Yes me...think I got a 4 too...but I'm still going for it...pushing 40 but I don't care,I want a foundation degree and I want EYPS...more for me to prove I CAN do it...unlike school!

Never too old.

I remember CSEs! I've got a CSE in History!

I just feel I've come this far, qualifed and worked as an RGN for 18 years with out it, now doing NVQ 3 in childcare, (despite having previously studied for NNEB) and I'm prepared to study further, but I just don't see why we need GCSE in Maths

I remeber CSE's

Luckily Maths was one of my strong subjects so I got a good O level grade. However no one asked to see any of my certificates when I started my Foundation Degree. I agree it is never too late! I have just passed the magic 4 0 (shh) and I am loving my course. Only major downside is I have no time for the forum

Its the core skills that the CWDC say that we should have, for EYPs status. GCSE Maths and English is required to go on to do the 3rd year for the full degree and then the route to EYps. I really want to do my third year. Don't know what I am going to do with it yet but at the moment I have something to prove to myself and am throughly enjoying the learning!
