Hi, im also doing this course. This book was recommended to me by my assessor, NVQ Level 3 Children's Care, Learning and Development it's by penny tassoni. You can buy it from amazon. It is a good book and very helpful. Which reminds me, i should really start to read it more.lol

I have found this one really useful and it is set out in exactly the same way as the units you have to follow. I also like Child Care & Education by Tina Bruce and Carolyn Meggitt

I'm doing my course from home and assessor comes in every 4 - 6 weeks. Just looked at first activity Health and Safety in workplace, will try and answer some questions.

I used to teach and assess nvq L2/3 and the best book was NVQ Level 3 Children's Care, Learning and Development. I also found it useful for me when i was marking/assessing knowledge questions especially when i had mind freeze.

How are you getting on with it? What unit have you started on? I have been given Unit 302 to begin with.

Thanks Roseolivia. I have seen that book on Amazon today, so I'm going to see if I can get it out at library, although I think they will not have it there. If they don't I will buy it.

    Hi

My first unit is unit 302 as well. The book is a godsend! I had my first visit from my assessor on Wednesday - it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. She basically just watched what I was doing and asked questions about where I keep my First Aid things, medicines etc. She was writing things down as she observed me and wrote things that I or the children said. Afterwards she gave me two observation sheets that she had filled in and they then go into my folder under unlogged. She said that when she comes back, although they go under 302 she will go through which KU they go under to get me started.

I hope this helps - it is all a bit daunting.

    Love
    Lucia

Yes, I have been to library but no luck with book. I have to order it online now.
My tutor has just left me a workbook on Unit 302 and said to do each activity. She also left me a CD. Not sure if I'm doing things right so I have called her but she hasn't got back to me yet.
Its great to be able to get on here and get help, ideas.

    Thank you

    x
