Childcare courses

I recently completed the Childcare.co.uk training courses available to full members.
Does anyone know if they are recognised and accepted by OFSTED?
Does the food hygiene need to be updated every 3yrs? (As suggested by my tutor)

Most childcare courses would be accepted in terms of general 'continuous professional development'.

BUT: in terms of the statutory requirements, courses such as paediatric first aid, safeguarding, food hygeine, etc. must be those approved by your LA.

Your LA's Environmental Health Officer will advise on food hygiene courses, including which ones they approve and how often they expect you to renew the training. Some EHOs are very rigid and prescriptive. Mine is very flexible: once we've done the initial training with a Chartered Institute for Environmental Health course, they don't look too hard at refresher training unless they find a problem at inspection.

With regards food, our EHO didn't specify any particular course, so you may be OK!
We do have to do First Aid with an approved organisation and Safeguards with the council.
