    Default Prices

Hi all, I know everyone in all areas charge differently but was wondering what kind of prices people do for school run children? Have a parent asked for after school only and just wanted a rough guide really, I'm based in Castle Bromwich area.

    HI ,
I live in a totally different area to you: Wiltshire. But I charge my usual hourly rate for school age children (£3.75). If they are here for long enough that is... I charge £5 minimum per session to make sure it's worth my while to go out and actually drop off/collect/ cover the cost of snack etc.

I know some charge for the full time they are open until e.g. a 3 hour after school session whether needed or not, as the child is using that space and it could potentially earn much more than the hour or so actually needed. I tend to go with my usual rate, with the £5 minimum if they want every day: before, after or before and after school. But for instance I had one mindee who need both ends of the day but only 3 days of the week and for only one hour of the 2 1/2 available after school, so I charged £5 an hour for this particular contract as I could have earned much more from the space taken up.

The older children cost as much if not more in resources and can be hard work, especially if you have them for full days on t.d.days holidays etc, expecting to be provided with non stop activities which they want to complete in 10 minutes then move on etc ...... and they can eat A LOT!

    Good luck

Thanks both, I was thinking of doing a session rate, was looking at £13 and then charging the same daily rate as my young ones should they need holiday care.

I will see how that fares with mom!!

    Thanks
