Default CM wanted for "a break"

Just been on childcare.co.uk looking about and someone is looking for "Someone to babysit my two girls a few hours daily to give me a break."

Not judging anyone but I had never thought of someone paying out childcare everyday just for "a break"

No point in posting really, just making an observation that kinda tickled me lol

Personally I've thought about it for my 19month old DD. She's extremely demanding and quite clingy to me and I thought it would be benificial to both of us to get her another CM to go to one day a week for a morning or something.

Oh I get once a week... my sister is currently using a minder one day a week as she is pregnant and my niece does not get any other interaction with babies or younger children...But daily? surely that is a lot to pay out for a break IYSWIM lol

Again not judging, each to their own and everything

She probably hasn't worked out how much it will cost yet.

Either that or DH is a high earner!!

I would love someone to mind my two so I can go jogging of a evening - its never going to happen. There has being times I have used a babysitter so I can catch up on the ironing and general housework. (I don't live close to family)

I would have done it when my son was younger if I didn't have family to help me

If I could afford it I would - have chance to go the gym get the house tidy without children - do the weekly shopp - have a bath in peace ohh the possibilities.

If you dont have family close then why not

I used to care foor a lo one day a week so mum could have a day with her girl friends or to enjoy a bit of pampering; she used to hand her lo over and tell me she was off out for lunch, a facial or massage etc. I used to wish I had the time/money to do the same.

SIL has been doing this quite regularly, she had finished work because they couldn't afford child care but ask me to have lo 2 or 3 times in a week so she could have a break!!!
not sure how she can afford child care when she's not working!!!

I have had several mindees whose mum didnt work.
So they could have a break

One was just 4 hours on a Friday, A brother and sister 2 full days a week and a 3 year old 3 mornings a week who i then took to nursery. So that Mum had 3 days a week 9 - 3 to herself and wasnt working!

I wouldn't do it but don't mind what the parents do really as long as I get paid!!

I would never have wanted that when mine were young, I just loved being there for them - I had three under 4 1/2. I just did lots when they went to bed and worked the long hours! Time went so quick and I never missed a thing. Saying that, I am not judging anyone - each to their own!

I had a child start with me when she was 18 mths old for 2 hours a week to give mum a break, she was 4 in November and will leave me in July as she starts school after the summer break. Her hours increased from 2 to 15 a week when mum returned to work, seems the 2 hour break gave her the confidence she needed that she could leave her child and return to work part time.

I see nothing wrong at all in people using childcare to get a break - god knows if I could find a half decent childminder with spaces i'd love a break - really I would.

We have had a couple of children who came just to give mum a few hours to themselves. One baby was very hard work when he was little! They were both single parents and just needed a bit of time to catch up on jobs etc!

I have looked after children so mum could have a break but never every day of the week, I would find that a bit strange

Just a thought, but after a hectic day today I was wondering if I could pay a minder to have my mindees so I could have a break? Preferably a minder with cheaper rates than me
