Anyone any experience of precocious (early) puberty?!!!

Hope this is the right place to post am freaking out here! Dd who is 8 has pubic hair! Just discovered last night and have been having a panic ever since.. I know girls start puberty earlier now but I was 14 when I got my period and wasnt ready then! My eldest dd is 10 and have had 'the chat' with her but didn't expect to have to do it with my middle dd for some time! She has had swollen nipple areas in the past which dr put down to a hormone surge. Spoke to a friend today who is a dr and she said yes Its a bit young and to take her to gp.. She recommended someone so just waiting to get the number to make an appointment ...

Just wondered if anyone else has experience of this as I am just in shock, it breaks my heart to think I am losing my little girl and her innocence

Sorry don't have much advice, but despite everything, she'll still be your little girl. I wouldn't view it as her losing her innocence.

Sorry no experience of it, but she wont lose her innocence I'm sure. hugs to you though, it must be a worry.

I had my first period at 9!

I knew what a period was as my oldest sister had started by then but freaked out because I didn't believe it could be my period as my middle sister (18months older than me) hadn't started yet.

To make it all 100 times worse we lived with my dad

Never been so embarrassed in my life as when he started telling female family and friends that I was now 'a young lady' .... hello dad!!! No one elses business!!

Young as it is, is does happen. At least you'll be there to support her if it does!

my DD developed boobs and pubic hair at 8 and started her periods at 9. She is now 11 and now wears a 36b bra. She is tall, has an adult figure, looks about 14 and I have to be honest I now forget she only 11 and sometimes have to remind myself when she has an immature moment. It hasn't always been easy dealing with the hormonal side of things as such a young age but we are getting there.

hiya, its very scary but think about how she must be feeling to... i was young to i had the full whack hit me when i was 9 and i hadn't even had "the talk".. i remember thinking some thing was very wrong with me and got really really upset, my mom was crying and hugging me and saying my baby girl is all grown up!! being 9 i was even more confused and got really muddled up and asked my mom do i need a job and a house now.. i suggest giving her the talk and as much support as you can. maybe her older sister could help you out a bit. i got bullied as my boobs came out from no where and was a 34c by the time i was 12 my mom use to say they were jelous and she was really supportive, i think if it wasnt for my mom being so supportive god knows how i would of coped. my mom taught me how to shave under my arms and my legs, i though at being 12 i couldnt have any hair and shaved my whole body (eye brows and arms to which now i regret and have to wax my eyebrows quite often) and by the time i hit 15 i was a 34dd!! sorry to go on a bit and good luck x

i noticed pubic hair on my girl at around same age, she is now 10 and has cramps every month but has not yet started the monthly. we have had the chat and she know can always turn to me.

ive shown her what to do if it ever occurs and let her wear a lady towel (as we call them) so she knew what the expect. she carries spare undies and a lady towel in school bag (in small wash bag)
people may think omg no dont do that but id rather her know what it feels like when has to wear a lady towel and be prepared if it ever started while at school

her boobs are starting to develop so wears a training bra - and feel more comfy when getting changed in front of ppl now (been wearing for year ish now)

my dd is 9 (nearly 10) and has told me she's spotted hairs already. I'm lucky she knows all about it (had to go into in detail at age 7 due to Y6 boys scaring teh whatsits out of her about having babies so we had to discuss condoms and all sorts as well as periods

)

still at least she is aware and she is quite looking forward to it I think bless her- little does she know

This is exactly the same as my dd ;( she started periods at 9 , shes now 14 and is wearing a 34c bra

they grow up too quick x

my dd is 8 notice hair down below when she was 7!, she has got a few under her arms now too (8 now). she is tall for her age looks more like at 11year old. I have explain to her that ladys get periods, and if she finds blood in her knicker not to worry, bcause i know she would freak out!!

they grow up too fast!!

I didnt think it would happen to dd so young and we didnt have the 'talk'

She was so scared, oh why do they have to grow up x

As thanks guys appreciate you all sharing, glad I am not alone!! Can I and did any of you get it checked out .. I believe they can do bone age tests etc and give hormones to slow it down? Am a bit worried about her developing breasts
Early as both I and my mum had to have reductions so since I have three dds I am Saving in case they need one later!! Both I and my hubbys sister
Didn't get our period Til 14 so it doesn't run in the family

My daughter was in bras from 8 and started her period at 9. I did take her to the dr and they said that it was fine and that she was just growing up a bit earlier than some. They did recommend a fantastic book for my daughter to read. It's called Ready, Set, Grow by Lynda Madaras and it's aimed at 8 - 11 year olds to explain what's happening to them. It really helped. Personally I didn't check it out as I knew of several others in the same and they had been advised that the age of average puberty is lowering. Personally I wouldn't want to slow things down for her in fear of the problems it could cause later. I was just 12 when I started my periods and 10 when I started to develop breasts and that seemed average then (I'm in my late 40's

). I can remember 3 girls in my class who were much more advanced and appeared at 10/11 to have huge chests

However I met up with one several years later and my chest was bigger than hers

I think we just have to go with what ever nature deals us and support the best we can. The only thing I will say is onset of puberty can be induced by weight and many children are generally heavier these days. I although my daughter is not particularly over weight (not skinny either) she is tall so naturally that makes her weigh heavier. As a family we are all quite conscious of our diet because of weight issues, so we are encourageing her to eat healthily to try and maintian her weight
