    Default What would I need??

Sorry to sound a bit dim this morning but following on from my storage problem of toys in the living room, I have decided to look into having a door put in my living room which gives me access to the under stairs which is a vacant space. The wall is a supporting wall so it wont be a case of just knocking a hole into it so who would I need to contact? Would it be a structual engineer or a builder?

    I've no idea!!

Any reputable builder should be able to advise you whilst providing a quote. I would imagine it would probably need some form of lintel inserting above the potential door-frame.

i'd check whether you need building regs as well as you are altering the structure with it being a supporting wall, they come out and check the lintel is the correct strength and size before the builder plasters over
