    Default £5 coins.......

Over the years, my DD's have been given 3-4 £5 coins each which are just gathering dust. I'm surprised they have survived and not got lost, as they are just chucked in a draw.

If I took then to the bank, can I pay them into my childrens bank accounts or change them up for notes that they could use to buy something with?

I used to work with the cash when i was in retail and grabbed a couple of £5 coins when i came across them (put the equivalent in money back), but heard some time later that some of them were not worth the £5 , so ours are lost somewhere in our house.

let us know how you get on with 'exchanging' / selling yours.

DH has just cashed them in Barclays and is now on his way to Santander to pay the money into the kids accounts.

He tried Santander, Halifax, Natwest and the post office and they all said no.
