WEIRD BABY NAMES / WEIRD SURNAMES

This week the Pope declared war on parents naming babies after celebrities, fruit or popular sports cars. In an address to parents, the ever-progressive pontiff pleaded with worshipers to 'give your children names that are in the Christian calendar'. So Apple, Brooklyn and Mercedes are out, Francisco and Giulia are in.

Someone even called their baby " Devil " why would you call someone that

It got me thinking about names .............

Do you know anyone with a weird name ?

Do you have a weird name - first or surname ? Do you like it do you have problems with it ?

Have you called one of your children by a weird name - if so why ? Did you want something different?

used to be friends with someone who looked after a girl called Boyarde

and a mum at school has 7 children 2 of them are called Gabriel and Angel
nowt wrong with Gabriel but to call his brother Angel

My daughter is called Blue! She has never been teased and likes being different.

I personally like unusual names, but not 'silly' ones - and what one person classes is as silly can be very different to the next person I know! For example, my best friend's brother called his daughter Rogue which I think is downright silly! However I love the name Apple! I know I don't make sense!

Looking forward to hearing others unusual names!

my kids are jay frederick and travis archer i like different names but not not to different archer is in hubbys family for years as a first name but i didnt want it as a first name
my nephew is called cayden
down the road from us we have a boy called trafford for his first name and jay has a girl at school called manchester

My son's middle name is Stamford lol my husband wanted to call our daughter Chelsea but i put my foot down.

I worked at a wedding and the grroms name was Krispin Dick!!!!!
i swear thats the truth...i also used to work with a chap whos to daughter were named after think they were painters please excuse the spelling but it was Pyranesia and Botticheli...that is also the gods honest truth

I love the name Frederick

mine are common Charlie and Oliver but i loved how they sounded together charlie and ollie have a lovely ring to my ears...well except when they are making that ring LOL

I love hearing of "wierd" names! As a Kristen, i get called so many variations - the MIL calls me Christian...she just cannot say Kristen and most people can't...rather bizarre LOL

I like old fashioned names

My youngest dd was going to be kristen but the prob was no one could sayit and it was too close to my eldest dd and whenshe came out of school saying the deputy head had called her kristen we had a rethink

my nephews are called Cooper Samuel and Howie Edgar. they have a friend s called Ibe, Joff and Ellis (thats a girl)

My girls are called Emily Beatrice and katie Alice -not unusual i know but 23 years ago beatrice was unknown.

Mine arnt unusaual, Alysha and Eloise but in there school there are no onther eloises and 1 alisha so spelt different.

In the school there are simeon, amazon & phoenix(twins) paper who has siblings called devon and storm

my ds1 first name is my surname. I wanted him to have a double barralled (sp) surname mine and my partners but i decided that my surname made a good first name

One of my son's middle names is Dainton. It is actually a surname but my partner wanted it as a first name for him. I wasn't so keen so we had it as a middle name as a compromise. I have only heard of one Dainton and that's online, never met one. I do sometimes think maybe we should have been brave and used it as a first name but A. his first name suits him well and B. people where I live don't often pronounce their 't's properly so it would be said 'Dain'on' which I think sounds awful.

Deiter is my older brothers name but he useshis middle name jon as his first name, at my nephews school there are twins levi and Jean!!!
my newest nephew is Eben never heaard that name before xx

We know a baby boy thats just been born called Rudy. It just sounds funny when you say it - like being rude!

There are twin girls at school called Holly and Goodison! (maybe an Everton fan?)
