    Default Baked beans

    What is your favourite kind?

I like mine orange, not pale washed out orange but dark orange. Most important is a thick sauce not all runny.

I was likeing Branston beans as had a lovely thick sauce but they've gone too runny now (unless i had a rouge batch!)

So what do you recommend for me to try.?
I'm doing slimming world and can eat as many baked beans as i like so do tend to fill up on them!

i always used to insist on heinz but last year when there was not much work about i had to have a few weeks of really budget shopping and to my despair i forced myself to buy tesco's cheapest value ones, and

they are nicest beans ever! i still buy them now even tho i can afford heinz (get me! lol)

the sauce is slightly runnier than id like but the beans are lovely.

Sainsburys low salt, low sugar ones. Find Heinz far too sweet and syrupy.

Hubby used to insist on Heinz but now he's diabetic he has to watch the sugar so we tried Tesco Healthy Eating ones and he prefers them

I can't look at beans without heaving! They way they slip about in that sauce makes me shudder. Unfortunately my partner absolutely adores them

I have tried Heinz regular and low sugar and salt but all too runny and a bit insipid!

I'm obviously too fussy! i'm going to but one of every brand i can find and do a taste test - i'll be unplesant to be around for a while though i guess.

Heinz, the others just don't taste the same. Even nicer with some butter melted in with them. Hx

I loove, love, love Americanized baked beans - empty the tin into a baking dish, add liberal amounts of brown sugar, a squidge of mustard and maybe a bit of chopped onion. Mix and bake in oven for a long time. Perfect with cold potato salad at a BBQ.

I do also like Heinz Mean Beanz (BBQ flavoured ones) over a jacket potato with a bit of cheese and bacon.

But as far as eating them any other way, like on toast or with breakfast, then, no. Bleh.
Why is "phonics" not spelled the way it sounds?

Branston for me I do think the sauce is a bit runnier than it used to be

tried them all I think - even the value ones, which I threw away

DH used to have heinz when he was living with his parents, but I don't like them - too dark and claggy sauce
Happy to be back with the Greenies
