Dont buy a sizzix...too heavy and you are limited.
I can recommend a cuttlebug, smaller etc
my friend has a cricut which she loves....works out cheaper for the cartridges then the cuttlebug etc....you can have 1 image but change the sizes up to 5 times bigger. This is more of an electronic cutter and cna use the 12x12 scrapbook pages.
The big shot is very similar to the cuttlebug but bigger, i sold my bigshot to buy the cuttlebug.

My son has the cuttlekids which is a smaller version of the cuttlebug.

Is there a local craftshop you can go to try before you buy?...the shop I used to work in has demo machines available so you can try.

thanks hun, we have few near us which i am going to go into and see if can have demo or just simple look closer than ebay etc haha

i have noticed cartridges are quite dear for certain ones and what they are them selfs

does the cuttlebug emboss and cut shapes so they can be stuck onto things?

I scrapbook and make cards when I have the time. I love my cuttlebug. You can buy embossing folders and die's so can cut and emboss. Cuttlebug do some lovely embossing folders, my favs are swiss dots and devine swirls.

Rather than buy an expensive cutter ( I have the big shot) why don't you look on Ebay and find a seller that sells the pre cut die shapes.

Your cards/invites will be fantastic still and no one will know that you didn't actually wind the handle and cut the shapes!

Most sellers that sell the pre cut shapes would only be too happy to do a load to order in the colour you want.

I have hundreds of dies here, depending on what you want I could possibly cut the shapes for you!

I had a sizzix - well it's hiding at the back of my craft room! Replaced it with a Big shot - much easier going.

Would love a cricut but can't afford one right now.

Think you can emboss on most machines, if not all, but might need extra plates/folders - best to ask at a shop then get off ebay

    i dont see why not.

a childminder i know has put the cricut through her books.
there is a cartridge she uses that has animal faces on and she sets them at the biggest setting and uses them as masks for the mindees etc.

Now thats an idea, I really would like a cricut, but the expense has put me off. Having said that, I go on a forum and if you need something specific someone will usually cut it for you
