    Default Good afternoon Tuesday

I hope everyone's surviving the wet and windy weather. It's on days like these that I'm very glad I don't do school runs.

We went down to the library this morning for a Christmas song/story session. It was a cold and damp walk, but we avoided the worst of the bad weather. The children really enjoyed the session and each came home with a little present. The adults all got a hot drink and a mince pie, which was nice.I'm not normally a mince pie fan, but these were from the local bakery and they're lovely!

On the way home we bumped into a childminder friend and her minded child. She was saying how quiet she is at the moment and how she's not getting any enquiries. I was surprised as I'm still getting regular enquiries so there is work around. I then got another one this afternoon, so I've passed her number on and I've got my fingers crossed they'll go to her.

What's everyone having for dinner/tea tonight? We're having gammon with roast potatoes and veg. I feel I should really be making a stew on a day like today, but the gammon needs using so that's what we'll have

    Stay safe and warm everyone.

The rain definitely seems to wait for the afternoon school run!

We had another quiet day as I only had 2 again today plus one of my afterschool children is off this week too. We did some crafts and the 3 year old was happily playing with the Christmas small world bits while the baby slept which gave me a chance to do some other stuff.

I keep getting enquires for a day I can do but then people don't get back to me which is slightly annoying but I am going to start advertising Sept 22 spaces once we get in to the new year. I live in a village just outside the town and things have always been a bit quieter here compared to my childminding friends who live in town.

DH is making a curry tonight and then I have a Christmas wreath to make as DS1 sent it to me in the post today as a surprise, it's a kit which you just have to put together which should be fun.

Ooo, that kit sounds fun Pixie. I've tried making a wreath in the past, and it's really not my forte

Sounds like you both had nice days. We did too, but I can't say I enjoyed the afternoon school run!

We met a childminder friend for lunch ... whilst we were eating, her phone rang ... with an enquiry ... she couldn't do it and asked if they'd spoken to me, and apparently they had and I didn't have space! .... however ... I haven't spoken to anyone for a couple of weeks, so i don't know who it was! The only enquiry I've had lately asked for 2 whole days ... then didn't get back to me, then did ... and it ended up being a couple of afternoons, of only 3 or so hours, for a baby. I said I could do school hours, but nothing less. I seem to get steady enquiries, but I do know some other minders in a nearby town are struggling to fill spaces. I guess that's the benefit of being the only childminder in my town!

Potato and pea curry for tea.

Managed to do school run in between the rain. Got home this afternoon and the rain and wind really set in. I was so happy we missed it. Shepherds pie tonight. Started the Christmas crafts this week with the two mindees but unsure if they will be finished as they both have coughs and cold. So much covid in the school here it’s getting very scary. My childminder friend has it and it has gone through the whole family now so she’s going to be closed for 3 weeks!

It's the first time I have made anything like that and it turned out quite well, it had everything you need you just had to make it in to your own design.

Sylvia I hope you friend and her family all feel better soon and that you keep well.
