    Default Good afternoon Friday

How’s the weather where you are? It was hot first thing this morning and just seems to be getting hotter!

My plan for an early night last night didn’t happen, so I had a nice long lie in this morning instead. I was going to meet a friend for lunch but she’s had to go into work to cover a shift for someone who’s tested positive for covid. Cases really seem to be rising rapidly again here. One of my sons (who doesn’t live at home) had a positive LFD test this morning so is going for a PCR test this afternoon. We last saw him on Tuesday so I don’t think we’d have to isolate if it is positive.

This evening my daughter is coming round to help me sort my craft cupboard. She’s been painting wooden peg people and wanted to varnish them. I’ve told her I’ve got a pot of Modge Podge somewhere but she’s going to have to sort the cupboard to find it I’m going to nip out this afternoon to get some storage boxes and the idea is we’ll sort everything into labelled boxes so it’s all easy to find. We’ll wait and see if that actually happens!

Enjoy the rest of your day everyone. I hope the sun is shining for you, but that it’s not too hot!

We've been out this morning to meet up with another minder. It was so lovely chatting to another childminder! It was so hot though - lovely in the shade but a bit of a sunny walk getting there and back. I'm so paranoid in the sun. I had to put sun cream on one of the little ones because his mum forgot, so I was especially paranoid about him in case I missed a spot.

I think they'll sleep well at nap time though! DD finishes today at 1pm for summer. She's so excited. She wants to do some baking with the mindees this afternoon. One of my new ones wants to go from 1 day a week to 4. He's not allowed any sugar though, and we do enjoy a bit of baking. I'll have to have a think about that one. I don't want to save the baking for the day when he isn't here because we tend to be a bit impromptu with it, and also some other children would miss out.

    Keep cool everyone.

    Afternoon.

It's rather hot here! We've been out side, playing with water under the shelter. One of my LOs accidentally ported a bucket of was after down her front and didn't know whether to laugh or cry... luckily she thought it was funny !

It's my birthday tomorrow and I had already had to change my 'afternoon tea party into a morning and afternoon tea party due to covid rules, now quite a few people are isolating, so I could almost go back to the afternoon only! I asked all my minded children, and actually, they are all coming in the morning, so that will be nice, and then the afternoon I can relax! Despite all the parents being there in the morning, II'll still feel like I'm working! DH has organised it all, with help from DD, as I said I didn't want anything, just a party I didn't have to do anything for, except turn up!

A side runner to playing with the water, is that we've cleaned all the garden toys and tidied everything up... one of my 4 yr old, loved song that sort of thing! So all ready for tomorrow!

Maza ... what does your sugar free child do about sugars in fruits etc? Is it a medical sugar free reason, or parental? Because if it's parental, child will rebel when able to choose own foods like at parties, and it can become a bigger issue.
Equally, there are savoury scones/ crackers etc you can bake, jam tarts with sugar free jam etc. Although, I'm more concerned about the cynically that are used to replace sugar, rather than real sugar!

The weather has been lovely here too but everyone wanted to come in as they were too hot!

Covid cases are rising quite rapidly here too which is a bit worrying. A couple of local schools have finished early for the summer due to staff having to isolate. I am keeping my fingers crossed we make it through next week as due to be on holiday the following week.

How lovely that you got to meet up with another childminder Maza. You asked yesterday about our puppy, he is really good around the children and isn't bothered by them but he is off to the vets later as he started limping yesterday and chewing his paw. I have tried to look and it does look a little sore.

Aww Pixie dust I hope your puppy is ok.

Loocyloo have a wonderful birthday tomorrow - how sweet of you to invite your mindees - I really don't think I could do that Mindee is fine with natural sugar in fruit etc. It's just cakes, biscuits bla bla bla.

Covid cases are rising rapidly here too. I'm so glad DD has broken up from school now.

Happy weekend everyone - hope you have all finished work now.

Currently has his foot bandaged up and hopping along, he is feeling very sorry for himself. We have to keep the bandage dry which will be fun and he goes back for a check up next week. The vet said it's very sore, looks like he may have cut it on something or stood on something that has irritated it.

Thanks Maza, I have minded the majority of my minded children for a couple of years at least ( a fair few are coming up 5 years or more! ) so they feel like family! ( plus, it's only 90 mins! )

It was so sweet, I saw an ex mindee at school this afternoon, and she nearly knocked me off my feet with the force of the hug she launched herself at me with! I would have invited them, but then it would get tricky having or not having invited other ex-mindees.

Have a lovely weekend everyone, and 'see you' monday!
