    Default Good afternoon Monday

    Where's the sunshine gone??

It's very muggy here, but overcast and quite oppressive. It always gives me a dull headache when the weather's like this and I look forward to a thunderstorm to clear the air - not that it ever does

    Now I'm going to have a moan...pull-ups!!
I've never minded them before and have actually found them quite useful when a child is potty training. I don't know what it is this time. I don't know if the pull-ups are too big or too small, but I have 2 children being sent in them at the moment and they're constantly leaking. Bad enough when it's wee but absolutely horrendous when it's poo!! These 2 children have just turned 2 and show no sign at all of even being aware that they're wet or dirty, never mind showing any sign of wanting to use the potty/toilet. Luckily one of the children was wearing joggers so the fallout was contained within the legs of those. Unfortunately the other child was wearing a dress and the contents of the pull-up ended up everywhere...down their legs, over their socks, all over the floor. It took me ages to clean up and disinfect everywhere. I'm seriously tempted to ban them!

Apart from that we've had a lovely day! I've realised I didn't decide on a Father's Day craft and will need to get it done tomorrow as it's the only day one of the children is here. HAs anyone come up with any good ideas yet? I only really do a card, so I don't need anything overly complicated.

Enjoy the rest of your day everyone.

Oh Mouse I feel your pain I hate pull ups too but a lot of the nappy brands now make pull up style nappies for all ages not necessarily just for toilet training little ones. I hate the fact that I have to take everything off to change a child!

I have decided that we are going to make cards with hearts for Father's Day and write 'I love my Daddy because.....' all my children are older over 3s and they are in to cutting and sticking so I have a lot of various sized heart shapes that they can draw and cut around then I will write in why they love their daddy. I did something similar for Mother's Day and the parents liked them.

    Good evening!

Oh MOUSE, that would have made me very cross ( and sick! )

I always ask that a child is NOT sent in pull ups unless actively potty training, and even then I don't really like them as i think it encourages them to just wee in the nappy !!! I always say that as i don't remove all the childs clothing to change a nappy, especially when we are out, that i will require 'normal nappies'.

It has been overcast and muggy here all day too; we had a black cloud and i was hoping for some rain, but sadly not! back to watering the garden in a bit!

Having looked back through my photos of previous fathers days, we are going to do a multicoloured hand print with googly eyes and a drawn on mouth saying 'from your little monster' ! Last year we did a yellow/gold footprint, and then drew on handles and a base, and stuck a 'best daddy' sticker on to make a trophy!

I made a lemon and nettle cake today, from a recipe i found online! It tastes AMAZING! i only used 25g of nettles though, as although i have a fair few in the garden ... not enough it would seem! (recipe asked for 100g!) and it is SOOOOO GREEN!

Interesting recipe Loocyloo. I once tried nettle soup in a restaurant but I really didn't like it - also very green.

I haven't got much experience with pull ups, but I am not having much success with eco/washable nappies. My little one had a big leak all over the travel cot (thankfully only wee) and so I had to put the sheets in the wash and wipe the cot down. I really hope I have more luck on her second day this week.

Over the years I’ve had varying success with them Maza. With a couple of the children I’ve ended up putting a disposable nappy over the top of the washable nappy at sleep time. I know it defeats the object, but the child was soaked through every time they slept, as was the pushchair or sleep mat.

Oh that's a good idea Mouse. I did think that I would be quite annoyed if they leak on my pushchair.

With the first child I had in reusable nappies I thought I must be doing something wrong as they always leaked, no matter how often I changed them. One wee and his clothes were wet through. His mum used to send him in lanolin treated trousers (supposedly to waterproof them), but even that didn't work. When I asked her she said it was the same at home - a full clothes change every time he did a wee. To be honest, they might as well have put him straight in a pair of pants for all the good the nappies did! But then I had his sister a couple of years later, using exactly the same nappies, and I had no problem at all with them! I think the older child just did too much wee for the nappies to hold, whereas his sister didn't wee nearly as much.

I do love the idea of reusable nappies and really don't mind a bit of extra work that might go with them, but they're no good at all if you're constantly having to change clothes and mop up wet patches on the floor!

Pull up are one of the things I moan about. Why wear pull ups if your not potty training the child ? I just don’t understand it.you have to remove all the bottom half of the clothes which takes longer than changing a nappy!

Maybe they are cheaper than nappies?

    So annoying.
