    Default Good afternoon Thursday

What a glorious morning it’s been! The sun has been shining and it’s been almost warm. Some black clouds came over at one point, but they soon drifted off again. They obviously knew I wasn’t in the mood for rain today

This morning we went on a walk to a small play area that’s close by. I usually put the 2 year olds in the pushchair when we go anywhere, but today I decided to let them walk. They did really well, so I’m encouraged to let them walk longer distances now. I have tried before but one of them will just sit down and refuse to move when he’s decided he’s walked far enough!
The play area was a bit disappointing- lots of rubbish about and very tired looking. The children enjoyed the slide and the roundabout, but we won’t go back in a hurry. Despite it being close, we hadn’t been before and now I know why!

As the sun was still shining when we got back we had a picnic lunch in the garden before the younger ones went for a nap. The extra walking had obviously tired them out! The older one is happily playing with the dolls. I think she’s enjoying the quiet time without the others wanting to join in.

Enjoy the rest of your days everyone.

The weather is lovely here too.

This morning I had a visit from a prospective parent. She wants to sign up to start next month, so that's nice. Then this afternoon I had a second visit from another mum who has signed the contract and starts next month as well (different days to the other mum). So things seem to be looking up at last. Gosh, I'm exhausted though. The first family stayed a tad too long because their little one was initially glued to dad and then when the meeting could have come to a natural end she found the confidence to move away from dad and have a play and they didn't want to disturb her. She was very sweet, as were her parents, so I didn't really mind. DH said I should tell parents that there is a time limit (in a nice way, of course) on the visits - do any of you do that?

The parent who came this afternoon was much quicker, she was just about to go out of the door when DH started up a conversation with her, so after saying there needs to be a time limit he goes and does that! So the last five minutes I was watching both toddlers who had both clearly had enough and kept going in different directions, and the dog who was quite excited about having new people in the house.

I'm shattered! Glad it's a long weekend coming up. Tomorrow will seem nice and easy with no visitors. As mad as it was, it was quite nice to have two visitors on one day and get them over and done with.

Well done on the sign ups Maza. You’re going to be busy next month!

It’s lovely that your DH is so involved in your business. Mine is pretty much oblivious to what I do. I’ll usually tell him when I’ve got a parent visiting (mainly so he doesn’t come walking through in his pants!) but he has no input when it comes to who I take on, what I buy etc. On the plus side, he’s got no idea how much I actually earn either

Pre-covid I tried to limit visits to 1 hour. During covid I reduced it to 30 minutes, although we usually chatted longer than that. Now I’m back to a maximum of 1 hour.

    Well done Maza, great news.

I tell DH when I have parents visiting mainly so if he's home, he doesn't come and want to chat! I usually tell parents that I need to go out at X time. Most are usually gone within the hour though. My last one stayed longer, as like yours Maza, the little girl only got confident to explore a mum was about to leave, and I said to stay a bit more, so she was happy coming in sept ( starting school then ).

We just pottered around today, read lots of Eric Carle books and did some artwork ( well ... I'd painted sheets of paper and cut them into shapes and the mindees then made patterns ) it was sad to hear that Eric Carle had died at the weekend. It was lovely outside , so typically, we got home from school and everyone wanted to play inside

Oooo just starting to watch 'what are you feeding your kids' .... could be interesting, or irritating!
