    Default Good morning Friday

Another cold start to the day, although the forecast is for it to reach a balmy 1 degree by lunchtime. At least it’s a positive number for a change!

One good thing about the cold weather is the number of ice activities we’ve been able to do. On Monday we set up ice sun catchers with leaves and flowers. They’d frozen solid by Tuesday and they’re still hanging in the tree now. It’ll be interesting to see how long they last.

No work for me today and no real plans. At the moment I’m sat in bed with a cup of coffee and will try to go back to sleep for a bit. I’ve been having terrible night’s sleep lately. I fall asleep easily but wake up at about 3am, stay awake for 2-3 hours, then have a bit more broken sleep till it’s time to get up. I did actually have a couple of really good nights earlier in the week, so hoped it had stopped, but last night it was back to a rubbish sleep again. Hopefully I can get another hour or so now and wake up feeling ready to take on the day

Have good days, whatever you’ve got planned. Stay safe if you’re out on icy school runs and try to stay warm!

'A balmy 1 degree' - that made me laugh!

After reading the questionnaire for the two year check, we are working on some of the activities on there. We've been threading quite a bit this week and yesterday mindee jut about mastered the skill of threading cut up straws onto a pipe cleaner. We're going to move on to laces today. When I ft out my Valentine's resources I found some big lacing hearts from Baker Ross. I had forgotten all about them but they will be perfect for today too.

We're going to do some stamping with the heart stamps and we will make some heart shaped biscuits.

It's 'fish finger Friday' which means I don't have to think about lunch, and DD is having left overs from last night for lunch, so a nice easy lunch time. Then nap time - and Mouse, I'm determined to pack away most of my playroom during Friday naps - it makes a massive difference.

    Have a good day everyone

    'Gung Hay Fat Choy'
We've been finding out all about Chinese New Year today, lovely programme on cbeebies. 'My first Chinese New Year ' ... lots of stories about Chinese New Year, crafts, Chinese food, Chinese music and Chinese dragon and lion dances.

It's been really cold today, and tried to snow a bit. Mindees didn't want to go out! I think they've all been out in it alot all week!

It's been freezing here too, lots of the pavements are so icy now, we need it to warm up and so it melt away. We have done a bit of Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day today. Next week it's half term here and I am working 3 days out of the 5 as have a couple of days booked off as we need to put a new floor down in the playroom and I have been putting it off for a while now as a) didn't want to waste holiday days on jobs in the house and b) I didn't want to spend the money on it DH wants to start taking things out of the playroom over the weekend but I said no as I might need something, the plan is to take everything out Wednesday night but DH likes to be super organised unlike me

Anyway it's the weekend now and more importantly The Masked Singer final tomorrow so we will finally find out who sausage is

Ooooooo ..... I'd forgotten it was the final tomorrow very exciting! X

I'm trying to decide if I can justify buying a brand new single buggy! I want an outnabout single, but a) there are none ( and haven't been for months ) for sale within 60/80 miles, that are much cheaper than buying new! I would happily buy a 2nd hand one, but when people are still selling them for £200 odd and I can get a brand new one for £279, AND, I'd have to drive miles and miles to pick it up ( which doesn't seem a good idea at the moment! ) a delivered, brand new one seems a good idea! I also them want to get some Evo tyres, but they seem out of stock everywhere.
I've got a hauck 3 wheeler and it's OK, it's quite narrow and feels a bit flimsy, plus the seat feels as if it's made of cheap Plymouth. I've had it a year ( new to me ) and it's OK, but I'm wondering about biting the bullet and just getting a new buggy. The last brand new buggy I bought was DDs, and it only died last year after 15 yrs of use! Sadly they don't make them anymore. I had bought a few spare bits for it, but it was reaching the point that even spare parts were coming off old buggies and were no better than mine!
    Dilemma!

My DD1 has a new job and has 2 weeks training. As both boys are not at school/preschool I’m having them. So today the older grandson brings his home work. Yr1 counting in two’s which he sailed through. Then we had to read about China and the new year. So I got my Chinese New Year puzzle out and we made red envelopes for mummy and daddy. Actually felt good to be doing something educational for once. Went for a walk after lunch and bumped into one of my yr6 mindees and her mum. We stood and chatted for ages. It turned out to be a really nice day and reminded me how much I miss my work and the conversations I have with the families.

I have a ‘out n about ‘ double and single loocyloo, plus the hard tyres I can change to if I want to although I don’t like them so don’t use them often they are smaller than the pump up tyres.

I brought my double New after lots of second hand ones as I really like the make. Plus second hands ones weren’t cheap.so I think I’d pay out yes a lot of money but if you will use it lots it will be worth it

Thanks Dragonfly. I have the outnabout double, and it's great. I got it second hand but cheap from a childminder who was retiring, and I think I'll buy new when it dies!

Interesting that the hard tyres are smaller, I'll keep that in mind xxx

Yes think hard tyres are a 10” and inflatable 12” but could be wrong but I know they are smaller the pushchair feels so different when they are on. But think worth having, as is sliming the tyres.

Thanks, I do always slime my tyres ( although haven't needed to do it for so long, i'm going to have to get more slime too! )
