    Default Good afternoon Thursday

It's freezing today. Even with the heating on it still feels so cold

In the early hours of this morning DH and I were woken up by an alarm going off. We were trying to figure out if it was one of our cars and it was a while before we realised it was our house alarm! It also took us a while to realise we were actually in the middle of a power cut, which is what had triggered the alarm. It was only when the landing light switched back on that it dawned on us!
In fairness, we were both still half asleep We never use the house alarm and it took me a while to figure out how to turn it off. Luckily I remembered the code - I just didn't know which buttons to press. By the time I'd worked it out and gone back to bed, DH was fast asleep. He'd be no good at all in an emergency

Despite the cold we have been out in the garden this morning. I lit the chimenea, which gave us a nice bit of heat. I don't know why I haven't thought of using it in the winter before. We only really use it on summer evenings when the temperature starts to drop after a hot day. Obviously the children were kept away from it and were closely supervised, but they loved it being lit. I've told them I'll get them some marshmallows for next week and we'll toast them Luckily we have a good supply of dry wood to keep us going.

After lunch we're having an afternoon crafting session. The youngest will sleep so the older ones can have free access to the scissors, glue etc. I've found all sorts of random bits of craft materials so I'll let them use up as much as they want. Hopefully it'll clear a space in the cupboard

Enjoy the rest of the day and stay warm

Goodness Mouse, that was a palava in the middle of the night!

I love the sound of having a chiminea in the garden....I'd like one, but DH isn't keen.

Enjoy your crafting afternoon! I love sessions like that; we usually sirens a few hours in the school holidays just 'creating'.

It's been minus figures here all morning, but is about 1° now ..... we were still out for a couple of hours! No more snow, but still plenty around.
One mindee is asking for paint ... I'll get it out in a minute and the rest are asleep.
My hand washing obsessed mindee has been very cross with me today .... I roll her sleeves up so she can wash her hands, she rolls them down, and plunges them up to her elbows in water! So she needs complete changes and she is not impressed! It doesn't seem to make any difference if it is water in the sink or a running tap. If I just put a little water in bottom of sink or a bowl, she still soaks herself!

I love hearing about your water loving mindee loocyloo!

Mouse, it must have been a night for it - we were also woken up in the night. Ours was a bang and DH was convinced it was from the loft. He went up there this morning but couldn't see anything amiss, so goodness knows what it was. Probably something toppling in an overstuffed cupboard somewhere.

I thought it was Chinese New Year today, so I had all my resources out and we watched a dragon dance. DD told me that I had written on the calendar on the fridge door that it is actually tomorrow.

Mindee bumped his head 15 minutes before pick up and was in a right state, bless him. It really wasn't bad - just more of a shock for him. So pick up was a bit chaotic because we weren't ready for mum, what with having to do the cold compress and fill out the accident form. Typically it was on the one day when I hadn't even packed his bag ready for home.

Anyway, I'm off to do a quick tidy up and then get the heart bits and bobs out ready for some valentine's craft tomorrow.

    Keep warm everyone.

Mouse my DH would probably sleep through it all!

Today we have started to make our own Chinese dragon head for Chinese New Year only because we had a delivery yesterday and I was thinking what can we use this big box for

We still have quite a bit of snow as it snowed again last night but having to do the school run wasn't so much fun.

Hope everyone managed to stay warm.
