    Default Good morning Monday

Here we are again. The start of another week!

Who's got snow? I woke up to a thin scattering of very fine snow. It's coming down a bit heavier now and the flakes are bigger so hopefully we'll have a decent amount to play in before long. Last time we had snow the flakes were huge and it was lovely snow to play in. At the moment it's more of a dusty snow so not as easy to pick up.

Over the weekend my newest future mindee was born Mum sent me some photos yesterday and he is gorgeous! I'm not sure when I'll get a cuddle with the covid restrictions in place, so for now I'll just have to admire him from a 2 metre distance!

Has anyone else noticed an increase in enquiries for spaces for babies? I've had a lot of interest from parents who've had babies in the last year and are worried that they've never had chance to socialise. Now mums are getting ready to go back to work and they're concerned that the babies have never been left with anyone else and have pretty much spent their whole first year at home with parents. No mixing with family and friends, no toddler groups, not even meeting other families out and about. I've got one visit booked in for next week. The child is 18 months old, went to toddler groups etc with mum for the first 6 months, but then has been at home with mum & dad for almost a year. Parents say she is frightened of everyone and everything so they're looking for somewhere for her to go for just a couple of mornings a week to get used to being away from them. I can see we're going to have a lot of similar children coming along soon, once everything starts to get back to normal.

Have you got any nice activities planned with the children for valentine's day? Each year I say I'm not going to do anything as I don't really see it as a day for children, but then each year I cave to peer pressure (and social media photos of activities other childminders have done) and end up hastily organising a last minute heart themed activity!

Have good days everyone. Stay warm and stay safe

We have snow today, the local school has closed. I have 2 out of my 3 this morning and then my afternoon little one is arriving soon. The road conditions around here are pretty dangerous today and the police have warned against travel. We got all wrapped up to go out in the snow and lasted all of 5 minutes before they wanted to come in as it was cold. There was I trying to be all enthusiastic about the snow and they didn't want to know!

Mouse I have had a message this morning about a baby place(8 month old) the mum said she was worried about leaving them as they hadn't mixed with anyone apart from immediate family. I already have 2 wanting a space from September.

I haven't planned any valentine's crafts we will probably make cards at some point in the week, it's also Chinese New Year this week and haven't planned for that either.

    Keep warm everyone.

We've got snow too! Little bits, big flurries, nothing, everything etc!!!! Hope it lasts until tomorrow

I've been busy doing jobs and stuff this morning, now going to curl up with radio and book!
I'm not doing valentines craft this year. I only ever do it, if it falls on a working day! I'm heading towards chinese new year this week and next, week is pancake day/ash Wednesday.

I had a little one start, who had met me once prior to settling, and mum couldn't even come in! She was 12 mths and had spent age 5-12mths in lockdown. She is great. I have another booked in for this summer.. she's spent her whole life only seeing parents .... but parents are/were taking her out and about seeing things, so fingers crossed she'll be OK. I've had a few enquiries for babies, but I just don't have any spaces. It is going to be very hard for this group of children... never left, 'constant' hand washing etc, not really having to share etc. I do feel for them, and their parents. I'm thinking of doing videocalls with my new one before she starts, so at least she has seen my face and heard my voice! Going to try and introduce my cats to her as well!

    Stay warm everyone xxx

I had great plans for today but then last night something came up and so I didn't end up setting up the playroom/any activities. So today, I just put out various toys and mindee has just played, but not particularly enthusiastically. I put out a tray of seeds and scoops, which he normally loves, but he literally spent 4 minutes playing with it. He's currently icing some biscuits with DD which were left over from her food tech project which she had to do earlier (and wrecked the kitchen in the process).

DH is cooking tonight, so I will have to use that time to set up some gripping activities for tomorrow!

For Valentines, I am just going to get him to do some heart printing and I'll put random heart shaped things in a basket for him to explore. I might do some heart shaped biscuits with him, we will see how exhausted/enthusiastic I feel later in the week. For Chinese New Year, I am just going to pop all my artefacts in a basket for him to explore and ask questions about. We'll watch CBeebies probably - they always have a nice section on each festival.

We had snow. Started yesterday and was quite sleety. Then it got thicker and drier. It must have carried on through the night as there was quite a good layer this morning and it has continued light all day and still going. It is also freezing!! The heating is staying on tonight!! Didn’t take the little ones out today because of the cold but may try tomorrow for a while. Keep warm and safe everyone

We had a good amount of snow in the east yesterday so no children as Road were bad. Today I have 2 out of 3 children come.
This week we are doing Chinese New Year.making lanterns, hats, using chopsticks for food and activities.

Next week is Valentine and pancake day. Not planned a lot for them yet will do that Friday/Saturday don’t do a great deal for Valentine’s Day as I think it’s more for adults or is that just me?

Gosh Sylvia you must be cold, don’t think I have ever left heating on over night . I’m a bit like the queen saying put a jumper on ! Mine goes off about 7 pm and isn’t usually on all day. But there is only two of us outside childminding hours. We have a gas fire if the evenings are cold.

I had a home delivery due between 4-8pm didn’t turn up though, but would of been nice for the supermarket to phone and saying not delivering due to weather rather than not turn up and the next morning get a email saying unable to deliver yesterday so we cancelled your order! Please book another delivery. Do they no how hard it is to get a delivery spot? Oh well what’s done is done. Anyone else had this happen to them? Would of thought nicer to deliver when they can.
