    Default Good morning Friday

It’s the last day of my week off and I haven’t really achieved as much as I’d hoped to. I have managed to tick a few jobs off my to-do list though, so the rest will just roll over and get done eventually...or forgotten about!

I’ve decided I’m going to start Christmas activities with the children next week. I normally leave it until the beginning of December but I don’t want to take the chance of children being off ill or isolating and missing out on what we’re doing. We’re going to get the crafts done early, so if any of them are off they’ll still have presents made for their parents. It’ll make a change from me leaving everything until the last minute. The number of times I’ve had to dry crafts with a hairdryer on the last day of term so they’re ready for the children to take home

This morning I’m going to brave the supermarket for a food shop. I haven’t been into a supermarket since we went into this lockdown so I’m not sure what to expect. It’s really cold today so I hope I don’t have to queue outside. How have you found shopping? Has it been busy?

    Have good days everyone.

Morning its very cold and frosty here too! What Christmas crafts are you planning on doing Mouse as I am looking for inspiration!

I very rarely go in to a supermarket but we did pop on last Saturday afternoon and it was quite quiet but the weather was awful then too absolutely pouring with rain and very windy so I think everyone was staying at home. I think as we head in to December it will start getting busier.

    Happy Friday everyone.

    Morning all.

    Enjoy the shopping Mouse.

I was going to head to the woods, but it's really cold and wet, so we're staying put!

I hadn't thought about people having to isolate etc, effecting Christmas craft ... maybe I'll start next week too! Only 1 week early!

Over half term the older children loved making autumn leaf garlands .... just threading leaves on wool using a big plastic needle. I'm thinking of doing the same with Holly and ivy leaves and a bauble or 2

Other than that, I've got some clear baubles to put a photo of child in plus whatever else they like! And then I'm a bit stuck for ideas!

Oooooo think I've managed to add a photo! ( it is sideways and i don't know how to alter that! ) ... but watch out! ... now i've worked out how to attach photos! .... as long as i use my phone anyway!

Yay! I can see your photo

I love the garlands. I imagine they'd be lovely with holly & ivy.

Each year I try to do a canvas picture, a card, a decoration and something edible.

The canvas picture is totally child-made. I put paint, glue and 'bits' on the table and let them do their own thing.
The same with the decoration. This year we've got hanging wooden shapes and the children will paint and decorate them as they want.
I do have a bit more input with the cards. I've found parents do like one thing that looks a bit less 'child-made', so I do hand or footprint cards and either add the decoration or show the children where they might like to stick the bits I don't like to see a row of identical looking cards, but I know the parents do like them.
Something edible is usually something very last minute because I always forget to get the stuff in! As long as I'm organised, we'll make and decorate cupcakes.

I was really surprised at how quiet the supermarket was.

I went straight in, no queuing, and there weren't that many people in there. I managed to buy everything I wanted and was in & out in record time.

It wasn't at all what I was expecting!

They tend to do their own thing for cards .... sometimes I have shaped cards ... or last year ... I 'wrapped' a ribbon and a bow around the front of the card ... that went down well ( so it looked like their own wrapping paper )

I've got wooden Dec's to decorate as they wish ... last year the older girls got into 'glitter dipped' .. looked lovely ... but think I've only just got rid of the glitter left lying around!

I aim to do edible .... but usually run out of time!

Glad supermarket was quiet x enjoy a peaceful weekend x

No idea what I'm doing for Christmas crafts. For the life of me I can't think what I did last time I was minding. It was a good few years ago but I always had 'crafty' children and so we were always crafting. This little one has no interest whatsoever in anything craft related. Mouse you do tons!

We went for a walk this morning and it started to rain. We carried on walking for quite a while - I made sure that mindee was snug in the pushchair and totally dry, but when we got home I found that his nappy had leaked and he was drenched through. Poor thing didn't make a fuss at all - hopefully it happened just before we got home. My pushchair is wet where he was sitting - hopefully it doesn't smell when it is dry.

Loocyloo your garlands look amazing! Has your 16 month old been hanging around the downstairs basin again? I don't know why but that really makes me chuckle!

Yes .... Maza! .... not as much, but it is the favourite place to be .... all sorts of toys keep ending up in there too! It's hard.... we spend soo much time washing our hands, and this little one thinks they are bigger than they really are! I've had to give up on high chair this week, and they are sitting at the little table with everyone else! Kept trying to get out and throwing food. Now sitting at the table eating nicely ( even if she did try to pinch some broccoli from another plate! )
