Pancake day

My kids are very excited and the best bit is the fact that dh declared himself the king of pancakes so has to make them all

We have just had our pancakes as the after school snack. I wasn't sure if they should be classed as pudding or a snack, but decided that I would rather get making them sooner rather than later.

Also, we were debating whether or not I should have them cooked and ready for DD when she arrived home from school or whether I should make them with her, like I usually do. We (DH and I) decided that part of the fun and tradition is making them 'together' and then eating our pancakes in turn as each one comes off the pan. I am always last in the queue, lol. That's how we did it as kids too - it was the only time we didn't really sit down to eat all together.

Lemon and sugar
Chocolate spread
White chocolate spread
Strawberries
Bananas
Marshmallows
Ice cream
Golden syrup

I think thats it

... I make vast quantities of pancakes in advance, and each child then makes their own and tosses it! I just find that with several children after school, we don't have time to 'make and wait'!

We always have savoury pancakes for tea ( which I bake in oven ... usually have tuna and sweetcorn, or chicken. But this year we had bolognese topped with cheese! ) followed by sweet pancakes. One of mine was insistent on jam and lemon, and another had fromage frais

I made pancakes for DH, DD & DS for breakfast, had American pancakes at a friends for morning snack, a pancake for pud at lunch and then pancakes for tea! ... and I don't really like them!

I don’t quite know how, but I completely missed the fact it was pancake day! For some reason I thought it was in March this year. It was only when all the pictures kept popping up on my Facebook newsfeed yesterday that I realised I’d got the date completely wrong

We did some very hastily arranged pancake crafts and I left it up to parents to make pancakes at home with the children

We didn't do pancake day either as we were out at our usual group yesterday morning then by the time we got back had lunch, then naps and did the school run we ran out of time as 3 of the children had gone home by 4.15pm leaving me with just the one who can't eat egg anyway. There was only me at home for tea in our family anyway so I wasn't going to make them just for me.

sadly not! ... I did think of you though!

They don't start skipping till midday and mine all sleep after lunch and I had early pickups before school run. I was telling my schoolies about skipping day and suggested we tried ... they were not keen!
