Default DBS check for my 16 year old

Im in the process of doing this, I've paid the £65 ang now have a basic disclosure cert. Reading the info I have it looks like I now need to register with the update service and pay a yearly fee for my son, is this correct??
Then the last stage of the process is completing a EY2 with Ofsted. Has anyone gone through this process?

Yes you have until 13 days after you receive the certificate to sign up for the update service (£13 a year including this year) if you miss it you have to redo it again and pay again x
