My Dd is 8 and at every parents evening since infants the teachers have said how poor her handwriting and spellings are. Also she is falling behind in maths a little. Has any one used any private tutors or extra tuition groups to help their child. Also any recommendations for swindon would be great. I want it to be fun! X x

:-) I used to have a math tutor when I was at school as math totally defeated me! He was great. Very calm and patient and made it fun.

I think the best way to find a local tutor is to ask around locally, look in local magazines for adverts (we have a couple of retired teachers advertising round here) or ask school if they know of any. My friends dd had out of school tutoring with one of the teachers from school. I think there are tutors listed on childcare.co.uk or I'm sure you could Google a list!

    Good luck

We have just started using a private tutor for our daughter, slightly differant age tho as this is to help with her A level psychology which she is struggling to put what's in her head down on paper, we have found it very usefull although slightly expensive! But at the end of the day we are prepared to pay if it helps her to succeed. I just googled and found a website called first tutors, this one had some good refs and is head of a private school psychology department and who is also a examiner in this subject so she can hopefully give my daughter some pointers. Good luck with the search.
