Default Friend starting chemo this week

    Hi all,

my friend has recently given up minding due to breast cancer and is starting chemo on friday. I want to put together a goodie bag for her and am looking for some ideas of what to put in it!

So far I've got some pink pick and mix sweets, and am going to get a magazine and some facial stuff. I am going to make her some earrings too.

    Any ideas good people?

So sorry to hear about your friend. My sister has just finished all her main treatment (chemo and radiotherapy)and I have been involved in all the stages, she enjoyed books, mags, fave music and puzzle books during the long chemo sessions. Afterwards she found ,grapefruit juice, gingernut biscuits, extra strong mints and savoury type food/snacks a great aid in easing the strange taste she had for several days after each session, she also found that the mints helped a little with the ' feeling sick' part aswell. I would say be carefull about lotions as my sis became a bit sesitive, be guided by what the docs and her nurse advice esp with shampoos and conditioners, she may be given a bag of things to use, hth, your friend is in my thoughts xx

I had chemo at this time of year and you are cold and tired. I wanted a soft fleece type (not itchy) warm hat, slippers, scarf, shawl wrap, chocolates, book cos sleep is all messed up and in the middle of the night good to have some chick-lit you can dip in and out of. Sending good wishes to your friend. xxx

My dad craved sweet sugary things, full fat coke, various sponges, if she is just started chemo is good to feed her up in case she looses her appetite!!

Also something for her like bath smellies, perfume, anything to make her feel relaxed. My dad was lucky to get a free head massage and he said it was the best thing ever! Xx
