    Default Summarising childrens learning

Hi, how often do you all write a summary of a child's development in all 7 areas? Monthly, termly? Do I need to do a regular summary Or is it just the 2 year check I need to do? X x

Everyone is different...and I find it depend on how often the child attends also.

I mainly try to do a summary of learning and development 4 time a year...this seems to work fairly well

I follow Sarah 707's advice and do summaries every 6 months to coincide with children's birthdays and then I don't have to do all summaries all at once, as the mindees birthdays are spread out throughout the year - also as the 2 year check here actually happens about 2 1/2 this will work out that I just do a little more for that summary and then in theory I shouldn't have to add much more to it for the develoment check. I do an extra review if a child is starting Nursery, just so they have child's starting points and current interests.

I do mine every term but that does mean doing 7 at once which is a massive task. Sometimes I feel a bit guilty as I find I'm often repeating myself as many of the children are around the same age and enjoying doing the same things.
May have to change it to this way as it sounds great :-)
