Default Feeling Poorly After Being Bitten By Insects

DH is in a right old state. Was doing some work in the garden yesterday evening. He has been bitten to pieces. All rather itchy and inflamed but he is feeling poorly too. We went to the chemist and got some cream. He has taken Piriton too. I feel he should go to Doc's tomorrow if not improved, but you know what men are like!

Is it normal to feel poorly after lots of bites or could he just be tired and run down (as been working v.hard lately)

My husband got blood poisoning after being bitten by Mosquitos. Don't mean to alarm you but it might be more serious than he thinks. Keep an eye on him and make him a docs appointment in the morning if he is not any better.

My mum always gets bitten by things and it ends up swollen and horrible, doc said its because she's allergic to the beasties spit (how disgusting!). Could be your husband has something similar?

I got bitten a couple of years ago whilst sitting in my garden. My leg swelled up and became red and hot. I felt as if I had flu, I was given some antibiotics, poison drained and I felt back to normal. Definitely get it checked out, I stupidly ignored it for a few days.

Piriton can make you feel funny... but don't leave it to see what happens, get it looked at if he is still not right tomorrow xx

I feel for your hubby, definitely get him checked out.

I get a reaction to bites too and it's not nice, I find the sprays work better on my bites than the cream, take Piriton. I was also told to cover myself in insect repellent when out and about.

Just got back from walking in Scotland - we doused ourselves with 50% Deet from Mountain Warehouse and the midges stayed well away.

Would definitely get your husband checked over again tomorrow if he still isn't feeling well.

    Thanks all!

He's also taken some Ibuprofen for feeling lousy and is a bit brighter but is saying it feels funny when he bends his legs

Defo off to the Doc's tomorrow, whether he likes it or not!!

Is his leg swollen or is there any redness around the bite and then tracking up or down his leg? It sounds like he has an allergic reaction to whatever has bitten him or an infection.

Get him to the drs tomorrow, he may need some antibiotics.

    Hope he's feeling better soon
