    Children can get shingles.

Just took ds to doctors as he woke up from his nap right eye running, swollen and a rash on the right side of his face.

I thought he might of got something in it so thought they could just check.

Rash went down a bit and doctor thought it was conjunctivitis and prescribed drops. Then rash came back up he stops us as we are leaving and goes actually i think it might be shingles. Then tells me if rash is worse in morning to take him to a&e.

DS very grumpy asleep on my lap right now with a very deep frown. He is normally so happy.

Never thought I would wish he had conjunctivitis but right now I'm hopping it is and thing is better than shingles.

    Poor thing.

I had shingles when i was in my early 20s. It was incredibly painful, so I have every sympathy for your son. I hope he recovers very quickly xx

Thankfully I think the doctor was wrong. Rash has totally gone. DS does still look like Quazzimodo (sp?) but as he is no longer crying in pain so we can live with that.

I was quite shocked i thought you could only get it if you had had chickenpox.

Hope everyone that does have it gets better soon.
