It is all lovely, you are very talented!

Don't worry about the seemingly ungrateful parent, perhaps they were just having a bad day (not that it's any excuse though!)

Ok, shall I bring my own tractor tyres? I also need to warn you that I work for good quality chocolate biscuits - and I'm very expensive!

Of course I will. I'll go to Durham first and then to you afterwards. I'm coming by bicycle so I need to work out a way of tying the tractor tyres onto the handlebars first. I'll also need to remember my swimming trunks so I can get across to Ireland....It might take me a few days.

Sorry if this is being nosey, and you've said it all before in previous posts, but how is it you started childminding, when you could make a tidy sum making things out of wood.
    Talented or what?

Hi Mandy, I'm a childminder because I love jumping in muddy puddles and sitting on the settee reading to the toddlers. I like building dens in the woods and finger painting. playing in the park and buying imaginary food from an imaginary shop. All of these things are socially unacceptable when you're a grown up unless you're with children.

As for the woodwork. I do it as a hobby. I do sell some of the things I make but nowhere near the true cost in time that it takes to make them. For example the key rings I make sell for £5 but they take about 2 hrs to make so at £2.50 an hour I'm never going to get rich through my woodwork but that's not why I do it. I just enjoy making things.

Oh, now you tell me it's socially unacceptable without children! I went away on a girls weekend last summer and on the way back to the caravan I jumped in a huge puddle, as I would if out with the kiddies! Well, to say they were unimpressed is an understatement! lol

If they were unimpressed and didn't join you they are far too grown up for their own good.

    To Murphf and Jillplum,

Your gardens seem a lot bigger than I was expecting - and I can't swim very well with my bike so.......... I'm not doing them!

I know, I know, you're both devastated at the bad news!!

Fear not though, to make up for your disappointment I'll make you each a lovely keyring as a gift from me.

I'm sure there is the option for private messages on here so if you tell me what name you want I'll make you those instead of doing your gardens. Much more fun for me and nowhere near as much work.
