How do you locate a list of the members of this forum?

If you look along the blue header at the top there is 'Community' click on that and a drop down menu will appear including the Members List

Maybe she is trying to find a friend Richard? I often refer to the Members list if I am trying to locate a post that I know some one has posted and I can't find it. Or indeed if I have replied to a post it disappears in the new posts lists and I often find it quicker to find myself on the members list and then check my posts. Not very computer savy

Why has the members list been removed from the drop down option?

Unfortunately we have had to remove it for now as it was putting a strain in the database when it was searched.

I think a lot of people were trying to use it at once and as now we have over 20,000 members it is requiring quite a lot of processing power.

Hopefully we will be able to restore it in the future when our technical people have found a fix.

A lot of people seemed to be using it at the same time which caused the performance issue so it has had to be removed for now.

That's a shame I liked the member's list - easy to find who you wanted if you wanted to look up a post and I used to like checking my post count to try and catch up the other chatter boxes , oh well.

Thanks for replying but it does seem odd I thought the forum had been moved so this sort of thing didn't happen?

I also use it to locate a post that i cannot find, but i can remember who has posted it.

When i use the search box i never seem to be able to locate the thread i want

If youre looking for a particualr person its quicker to use the search box than the members list - put the name in search , then when the advanced search page appears put their name in 'use name' and click search now. It also gives a drop down list of members as you type. does that help?

There was some unusual activity in relation to the members list section just in the last 30 minutes. It looks like someone was trying to access lots of the member list data very quickly in succession. We spotted this straight away and took immediate action to prevent it continuing.

We hope to reinstate the feature again in the next few days. In the meantime I will be happy to provide any data that would usually be available from the member list so just drop me a PM and I'll try to help if I can.

Why would that be odd? If a member is leaving they may just want to make sure they can contact friends before they go. It may just be a coincidence that this has happened. After all we were all a bit bemused at the time the largest number of people registered as online at one popped up and it certainly wasn't all the members at the time, it was the middle of the night!! I wasn't aware of the forum removing specific features as a result of the over use?

Maybe there was an unusually large number of peolpe using the members list as a post had bought our attention to the fact it was there!

I know as soon as somone posted how to find it, I went to look straight away! Nothing sinister - pure interest
