Well I have 2 families trying to get me for the same space now, and I REALLY want to help both families so have applied to Ofsted for a variation. If they agree to it I would be over the button moon as both mums are really very lovely and the kids are fab - the ideal perfect scenario - so i'm at the mercy of Mr and Mrs Ofsted to say yes of course you can. It wouldn't make me full time but pretty darn close, with spaces still for a couple of afternoons and or after school care.

In the meantime I hope to be looking after a different child one afternoon a week until Sept, mum coming round on Friday to have a look, but pretty much wanted to signed up when she spoke to me in the playground so thats good.

Keep your fingers crossed that the men from del ofstedy say yup!

I think I would be too scared to apply for a variation right at the beginning .... for what period of time (hours in the day) would you require the variation for ?

    Best of Luck

about 3 hours 2 days a week for 1 above my numbers, and my dd who is included in my numbers is at preschool during this time and its term time only, not starting until Sept.

I know I have only just registered but its got to be worth a punt, and if they say no i'll get the parents to write a letter of appeal to see if they will change their mind.

I really want to make it work for both families - they don't have any other options.

Well it seems that the CRB process hasn't been as straightforward. Both DH and my CRBs were despatched on 30 April, according to the website, DH's arrived on Monday, but its Thursday now and still nothing re mine .

I am starting to doubt myself now, and think I'll go check the CRB website. Maybe I imagined mine was despatched

I have been doing a bit of searching on how they actually carry out the crb and it looks like i will be waiting a LOT longer they send a police check to every local police force you have lived in the last 5 years which for me and DH is 3. For my brother who lives with us at the moment it is 5!!!!!

Hope your crb appears soon x

Just a little update from me.

I have people waiting on an Ofsted Variation request from Sept - hopefully will hear soon if they will grant it or not, been 2-3 weeks so far.

In the meantime took on a 4yr old for 5 hours a week, rising to 10 after half term AND a mum has just confirmed she wants me to look after her 1 yr old for 8 week until mid Aug around the 4 yr olds hours - so its finally falling into place.

Still haven't filled my before and after school slots - which is a pain - but with the local nursery starting an after school club and the school looking to start a breakfast club from Sept - I guess parents have a few more options and they may decide to enquire closer to Sept or send them to the nursery and school and perhaps come to me if it doesn't work out.

Still early days and I think its going reasonably well. Quite pleased to build up slowly as it allows me to build up my systems and test it all - crawl, walk, run!

    Hows everyone else getting on?

Thats great that you have started.

I want to start smallish too, but had an enquiry for two siblings almost full time till older one starts reception in Sept. Not too sure sure if they are actually going to come back cos they haven't called yet but my CRB has disappeared.

It was despatched 16 days ago, and still nothing received by either Ofsted or me. Managed to get them to reprint it on the 14th day, but obviously can't expect that to arrive until at least next week.

To tell you the truth I am just sick of waiting for this CRB to arrive, as I am sure everyone is sick of hearing about it too .

I got registered finally at the end of May, and got my first mindees a week after. In the beginning I dreaded Ofsted coming, but in recent weeks (well since I knew I would have to get a variation) I almost wish I could now get it over and done with.

I am by no means anywhere near ready. My DW says I am doing fine (except one thing, which I have recified) and I have just started the dreaded SEF. I think I would really really like to get that out of the way ....

Any other March appliees been expected or done their SEF yet ???
