Thanks Ladies, I hope that it works out too.
Apparently some parts of local government don't see minding under 6 children a business......so technically I could say looking after 3 isn't a business. I'm writing letters after letters and calling people today (I'm not at work because I can't get out of our driveway at home!!) The snow is so heavy still and it's a foot deep!
xx

Good luck hunny! I really wish you well. I too would fight the decision as it is something you are so enthusiastic about doing. Set out to prove to everyone that looking after 3 children will have no impact on the other residents and if that doesn't work tell them you will just have 10 of your own and make their lives hell
good luck with your appeal hunnie xxx

What a shame you have to fight for it, but I'm sure you will succeed, so good luck
Helen xXx
Keep going and hopefully you will succeed in your appeal.

What are the chances of you moving? I know in the recession etc it is most probably the worst thing to suggest but i dont know what else to say to you. After all the hard work you have put in with the policies etc i just feel for you so much.
Just want to wish you lots of luck with your appeal. Do try to find out if there is any need in your area for someone who can help out other minders ie assisting for certain days/times of day/holiday cover - that sort of thing. That way if you win your appeal or move you will already be registered.
i would appeal too!!! why are these the only housing people stopping you!!! lots of other people in rented accomidations ahve no problems, what about speaking to your local MP too!!! get him on your side!!!
If worst comes to worst, could you not rent somewhere else? if its really what you want x x x
Hello Ladies,
I ws off work yesterday due to snow and I haven't yet called anyone. I'm emailing Ofsted today...although I'm struggling with what to write.
The planning dept don't class childminding as a business unless you look after over 6 children so I'm trying to see what Ofsted class as a business - it's the business part they have issues with. Although the NCMA website said it's 'working from home' I will find a way somehow!!!!
It annoys me though, me and dp pay a whopping £1248 mortgage every month yet they are stopping me childmind in MY own home...grr we'll be fine!!
Thanks once again for your support! xx

It is hard but it is one of the penalties of living in a Leasehold Property. You never own it and they usually come with a string of clauses about what you can and can't do.!
Most of them will sound old fashioned but they are there so that if you have a horrendous neighbour there is a tool enabling something to be done. What you must remember is that it is very difficult to inforce any of the clauses so leaseholders have protection from Freeholders and cannot be thrown out of there home at the drop of a hat.
The other thing is that they may be reluctant to give 'Permission' this strictly may be breaking the terms of the lease, they may give you their blessing, so turning a blind eye and saying you can carry on and they won't inforce the conditions of the lease. This is why it would be good to meet with all the directors and chat with them. They will be leaseholders like you and your partner. I would be very surprised if they are totally unapproachable. The lady you met lovely as she sounded, may not have fully understood and they may all have had a visions of dozens of children running around!!!!!!:laughin
Do you know how long your lease is? Chances are if its 99-125yrs or 950-999yrs you own a share in the Freehold company. I would check.
Sorry to be so long winded, but I used to be a director on the Freehold company board of a block flats I lived in for 24yrs.
Ofsted won't be able to change this, the only people who can are the Freeholders. Invite them round for a coffee. Show them what you want to do and talk to them.
Also I rarely take a straight no for an answer!! Have a go.

Hi Rickysmith,
We own £1 share each in the freehold
I will try and do all I can without meeting them first, they seem complete nincompoops (sp?) and the lady that was lovely was a bit odd with me when she told me no, I don't think she bought it up at all in fact.
We'll see xx
