A lot of pre-reg visit questions will be on safeguarding so you need to do course before they come out to see you and revise well- know your local contacts and proceedures for referring concerns about abuse, know the signs of possible abuse and what to do if you are a family member were made an allegation against etc.

What are the titles of the courses? Start with an 'Introduction to...' type course. Then you could follow up with something more in-depth.

Sorry - What I mean is do I need the "generalist safeguarding" course or the "specialist safeguarding" course or both?
Do I need to complete this before applying to ofsted?

Who is offering these courses? There are no 'standard' course titles so no idea what these courses cover. Ask the course provider and check with LA if in any doubt- LA set local regulations. No need to do before Ofsted forms BUT does need to be done before pre-reg visit as you will get lots of safeguarding questions and will need to talk about your training, so might as well get it done ASAP.

    Hi,
My LA ran a Safeguarding course as part of their Childminder training package. The Inspector at the pre-reg visit examined the LA's course certificate in great detail, questioned me on the content of the course (again in great detail!) but was happy with what I could tell her. My advice would be speak to your LA and go with their course if they have one!
    Good luck!!
