I think everything is getting in the way of me being a childminder

So I sent off my application to become a childminder in July this year and still I haven't got my registration visit. I been waiting for what seems forever. I had to prove that my local authority were ok with my using my old childminder training certificate since I only gave up the year before . Then I had to wait for my dbs certificates for nearly 2 months. I'm now nearly 4 months pregnant still waiting for my social services checks to come back and just realised that I now have to renew my first aid and food safety I just about to give up on the whole lot. By the time I'm registered I will be heavily pregnant and no one will want me to childmind for them. I feel so deflated right now and I want to do this I really do I just feel like its never ending and I will never get there. Sorry about moaning.

It's such a long drawn out process isn't it I can understand, it makes you feel like throwing the towel in
But just hang in there, what's the rush, it'll happen when it happen's.
If it makes you feel better give ofsted a ring and ask for an update and in the meantime have a good old rant on here

Sounds like you need to start chasing! It really shouldn't take this long. Lots of phone calls will help - and it will make you feel better cos you'll be doing something as well!!

Let's hope 2014 is the year it all comes together for you

yes let's look forward to 2014. It's got to be better than this year. I will start chasing I think. Do ofsted like you to have your first aid before they register you or can you get it done after they have been and are registered??????

Yes they will want to see your first aid certificate at your registration visit, your first job of 2014 I think!

Definitely call them! I was in a similar position and had just been checking online. I called up one day and it turned out my application had got stuck somewhere in cyberspace. The very same day my friend contacted me to say they'd asked for her reference and two days later I got a call about per-reg visit.

Thanks I've been looking at the first aid courses and can get on to one before the end of January so that's good even though its going to cost me nearly £ 100 which I'm not bet happy about.
