Default Safety glass and patio doors - External safety? HELP!!!

    Hi All,
I hope you can help me...

I'm currently making safe my home ready for my registration visit. I've done everything I need to do except for (and it's a big 'except for'!) sorting my patio doors. The doors are double glazed but ARE NOT safety glass (they're quite old). They go from the dining area to the back garden. I am going to order some of the safety film for the inside but I have no idea what to do about the outside (obviously with it being double glazed I need to do something about the outer panes of glass) and the normal saftey film is not weather proof so will not last.

Does anyone have any experience of this or any suggestions on what I could do please?

    TIA x
