Hi Everyone

I have an interview tonight for a baby who hopefully will be starting after Easter (which works out well as its at the same time that I lose one of my full time children). The care will be for 3.5 days a week.

Since I have not done this before, I wondered what I should charge as the retainer fee?

A retainer fee? Or a deposit?

If it was me, I would charge a deposit of 4 weeks fee, which would be held and offset against the their final bill.

If you have a space available for a baby now then you could charge a retainer - 50% of the expected fees is usual, but you cannot then offer that space to anyone else should someone come along and want an immediate start
If you don't have the space available currently, you can't charge a retainer
