Default Gloop, am I missing out on other messy things?

I made gloop for the first time today and my lo and mindee loved it! It made me wonder we've not done much messy play before apart from shaving foam so am I missing out on any other wonderful messy play ideas? And is there anything else we can do with the gloop to extend the play a bit, today we used spoons, cups etc.

We mix cocoa powder in ours and call it dinosaur mud, mine like custard powder mixed with water and make cakes using play kitchen pans, bowls etc.

Other messy play is jelly, pasta cooked and uncooked, cereal, mud, whipped cream, water with soap suds, water and mini soaps to bath the dolls

You could add food colouring or glitter to the gloop, vary the consistency, use different objects to make patterns in it such as combs or tyre tracks from cars etc.

cornflour mixed with water. A strange consistency - liquid and solid all at once if you add just the right amount of water

If you move fingers through it slow it flows, fast and it can be picked up and slip through your fingers

must do it again soon - not done it for a while

    I loooooooooove gloop

cold baked beans? (they do this at my local surestart centre).

When it was Halloween I mixed breadcrumbs with beans and anything else I could find, it was DISGUSTING and none of the mindees would put their hands in it! Oh well, live and learn....

Jelly is a popular one here, ice cubes in the summer, pasta, lentils, beans, oats, cold custard.

My mindees at the moment dont really like getting their hands dirty so havent done messy play for a while. Might try it again next week though!!!

There are quite a few messy activities in the Resources folder, these have been shared by members as tried and tested activities
