I've just started my OU Foundation Degree - i'm on the very first learning guide and this is the very first diagram to outline the different bodies who come into contact with children, young people and families.

Apparently childminders don't figure in that equation - that going to make the 60 thousand childminders feel valued

I find it quite unbelievable that they haven't listed us down, condidering how many children are cared for by childminders.

I am in my second year of the fd with the ou, are you doing E100? I don't remember seeing this, is it in one of the text books? Can't believe they have missed off childminders as we are mentioned throughout the other materials! What makes it worse is that a lot of cm's study with the ou!

I was going to say Childminders before I even saw the picture. We dont figure in many things these days including Childrens Centres in our area now the council do not provide access to these for childminders any more.

No this is K218 which is a Level 2 optional course (starting E100 in Oct this year) In fairness they have taken this diagram from another source and used it as evidence - but even so - there is no mention even in their text about childminders either.

A swift and highly informal Google reveals that there are around 40,000 full time firefighters, 21000 dentists, nearly 39000 midwives, and 29000 politicians (and their staff).

How is it that nearly 60,000 people can be so easily ignored and forgotten and under represented?
