Default Do I want to take on more?

From September i'm going to be full (EYFS mindees only, don't do schoolies) on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. I'm left with one space on a Tuesday (and i'm not going to work Fridays.)

I had an enquiry via ***** this morning, someone looking for a childminder to have her 1 year old just so he can socialise, so could do any day. I told her I could only do Tuesdays and she's happy with that.

But do I want to do this? I'm going to have my hands full- I have a variation to have 4 children on a Monday so it's a really busy, crazy day. And the mindee starting in September will be doing shifts which means sometimes i'll do 7am- 4pm, some 8.30am-5.30pm and some 2pm- 8.30pm- plus the times my current mindee is here........so a really long day sometimes.

Part of me thinks I should stick with what i'm already contracted for, I don't want to exhaust myself. And part of me thinks if I've already got one mindee on Tuesdays I might aswell have 2!

I always find one mindee harder work than if theres two or more, but it's a hard decision. Are they around the same age? If so they might play together nicely (or not )

Im in the same sort of dilemma. At the moment I dont work Fridays and havent for a year. Its been lovely to have a day to myself and catch up on things but I havent had any enquirys since Nov and Im needing a bit of extra cash so Ive said yes to a mindee on a thur/fri.

Im giving up my day off and dont know if ive done the right thing but we'll see.

Hope you come to a decision that suits you

I agree, if you had 2 already and were asking about a third I'd say now but I think 2 mindees are happier together.
if you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got

I'm in the same boat, my main sibling mindees are changing their days again in September and it will be Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, then I have another mindee on a Monday and the Friday.
But my 'day off' is Wed, so I will have to change it to Tuesday, but the mindee for Mondays and Fridays also wanted the Tuesday, but I don't want to offer it as I'll have no days off, but at least I'll be full on the Monday.
Also my after school child will be dropping their Thurs pm and only coming on the Tuesday pm.
Oh, yes and 3yr old mindee may be going to pre-school more often as well

Wish people would stop moving their days around all the time!

I would also say sometimes 2 children are better than just 1! I currently have a Tuesday off, but a current mum is coming back off maternity leave and needs Tuesday/Thursday so for a few weeks I will be back to working 5 days (not done that for a while ). Luckily when the schools break up another lo finishes as she is term time only and is going to nursery full time as from september so I will then have a Friday off as she is my only mindee on a Friday. I am planning on keeping it that way. Filling up the spaces so I have 2 mindees most days (don't want 3 every day) and keeping at least 1 day free to catch up so I don't have to do it all at the week-end!!

I would rather have 2 mindees than just one. I too find it easier when they have a friend. I say go for it, it will be quieter than the Monday anyway. xx
