Have you had the new information about registering with agricultural play resources?
It is a new European directive which sets out new rules for children's play in outdoor areas. Similar to ICO and EH, we will have to register with APR (Agricultural Play Resources)
Having had a look through the forms it looks like childminders are classed as 'home use', however there are still documents to fill in.
There is a subsection for children aged under 5 years and one for those aged 5 - 8 and one for over 8's.
Age under 5 you need to complete subsection (01)
for those aged 5 - 8 it is subsection (04)
children over 8 subsection (11)
The main things needed are the weight of the children, this is so that they can calculate the weight/mass effect on soil and substructure because apparently as children play they think it has an adverse effect and there might be need for charges, similar to council tax based on the numbers of children using gardens to play.
To find your calculation, (basically what you will pay for your annual tax), take the weight of each child, multiply it by their height take off 10% for clothing and then multiply by:
£1.25 for under 5's
£1.50 for 5 - 8 years
£1.75 for 8's and over
This will be your basic tax for APR
Then complete these other sections if you have garden equipment such as Gazebo's, toys etc. and add them on as supplementary tax:
(I) If you use Gazebos with metal pegs - 50p
(L) If you use Gazebos with plastic pegs - 30p (this is because plastic has a lower detrimental effect on soil)
(F) For 1 - 5 outdoor toys, such as trundle bikes (£1.00)
(O) For 5 - 10 outdoor toys (£2.00)
or for larger settings (O-L) will allow for 10 + outdoor toys (£5.00)
Once you have done your calculation it will stand for a full 5 years from today's date.
Hope that helps.
