Baby visit tomorrow - bit of advice please!

I have a Mum and her 4 month old coming round tomorrow at 1pm with a view to me minding him 1 day a week from June which will increase to 2 days in September.

I havent had an enquiry for a baby so young and feel a bit out of my depth!

For the other visits I have showed the parents my planning folder but I doubt a Mum of a baby so young will be that interested. I am thinking she will be more interested in the practical stuff.

I have got some baby toys out and the play gym.

What sort of things should I tell her and what do you think she will ask about?

Just relax and be yourself.

Offer to hold baby while mum looks at your paperwork etc, then you can have a cuddle.

I would still show her all the same kinds of things, as baby wont be tiny for long, but there might be extra stuff she will want to know ie where will baby sleep, food storage etc.

It will be fine just do as you normally do!!!

if you go out and places you visit

where they will sleep
how much do they eat and when etc

Just ask to hold the baby and chat with baby - she will want to see how you are with him / her

Ask lots of questions and show lots of interest yourself in the baby - ask about sleeping etc etc etc

Then her quesitons will more than likely follow

I have 5 one year olds on my books and they were generally the questions I asked them so will just go along the same lines!

Much as others have said, plus how you would be able to get out and about with other mindees, what your weaning policy is ( if you have one?) what they need to provide that kind of thing, and the babygym is a good idea to get out, and yes grab a cuddle!!
