    Default Hypothetical question / poll

Sorry, duplicate thread! Please post on other one

You have an 8 yo mindee who has permission to walk home alone. You have been told by mum that she is to stay with you late tonight. Mindee turns up and says friends mum is collecting her but friends mum has no idea about this. No reply from mum on phone, friends mum has knocked on mums door and phoned you to say there is no one home. You get dad on the phone (parents are separated) who says let her walk home alone (other mum has gone by this time).

Do you let her go alone before the time mum has told you she is to stay?

I would abide by the original instruction but would continue to try and get hold of mum on the phone in the meantime. It could make a difference depending upon if dad has parental responsibility but my gut instinct would be to go with original plans.
I'm not paranoid - the world IS out to get me!

No I wouldn't let her leave; unless mum has contacted you about alternative arrangements then the child stays with you until mum arrives to pick her up. If mum doesn't come at agreed time and time is getting on, I'd action my non-collection procedure.

would it make any difference if it was a school and not a childminder?
