    Default Wormery and Ant farms at aldi

    Just bought a wormery for £7.99 and they also have an ant farm. THought that might be a good theme for KUW for the summer hols!

    I get the aldi emails for their special buys and not seen these on there, but have seen them instore.

    For a cheap homemade version, you can make your own wormery using a 2 litre pop bottle. Cut off the top (with about 1cm of the straight sides) and pierce some holes in it (the top that is). Fill the main part with alternating layers of soil, sand, leaves, soil, sand, leaves etc make sure it is moist (very important), but not too soggy. Add some worms and push the top back on (to stop the worms escaping and also to keep the moisture in. I surround it with some black paper to keep the light out and we look at it every day to see how the layers are getting mixed up. If it looks like it is getting a bit dry add some water.
