    Default Resources in French!

I have just taken on a new client and mum is French. So my new little one will be bi-lingual. I am looking for sites that will provide me with words in french as well as english so that I can display them in my setting. Things for fruit, animals, etc. Does anyone know any good sites?

One of our French forum members tomthumb put a French workbook 'Le petit poucet' into free resources a while ago.

Free resources are at the top of the forum in the middle.

It's great for learning / reminding you of basic French words.

If you are making posters or eg weather charts in French, run them past the mum first.

You will find that different regions teach slightly different phrases just like in England.

There is a booklet made by Elodie (Forum member tom thumb), she teaches French and shared the booklet for the Forum, it is in the free downloads:

You guys are all fab! There are some brilliant sites here. I have bookmarked them to look at later. My new little one is only 5 months at the mo. But I want mum to feel that I am promoting her culture as she has already asked me to celebrate Bastille Day with him and she speaks French to him too!

And it won't hurt me to brush up on my long forgotten French either!

    Thanks ever so.

Children up to the age of 3 need playful experiences that follow their interests.

I have a number of planned activities going on for the older ones and if the little ones want to join in then great, I change things around to meet their needs.

However, I wouldn't plan something specific like that for younger children because they do not need plans like that... if that makes sense.

Like Sarah says you don't want to plan anything specific for that age, but you could sing some nursery rhymes or songs in French, how about Frère Jacques?

You might want to speak to Mum about using baby sign language too. Signs can provide a common link between the two languages. It is a great way of teaching babies to communicate before they are physically able to speak and helps to ease frustration. If the baby signs the word as well as saying it in French or English then it makes it easier for you understad them regardless of the language spoken.
