Toddler diarrhea?

How do I know if it's this or normal diarrhea? Child has eaten today but not as normal and had to keep nappy on after 2 accidents (normally only on for poos then pants back on- another story!) Child has been with me all day as just thought it was something they'd eaten which sometimes happens but they've just done another one now. If I need to exclude, how can I do that after I've had them all day anyway? Child was asleep from lunch til after school run otherwise might have phoned parent earlier.

Toddler diarrhoea smells awful and doesn't come on over 1 day... it's ongoing as it takes a while for the poo to impact up the tube, then the diarrhoea seeps round the sides.

Some children are particularly slimy or smelly if they've eaten lots of fruit over the weekend or if they are teething.

It could be a tummy bug if they are generally off colour as well.
